Designed in 1949 by Swedish Architect Nisse Strinning and his wife, designer Kajsa Strinning, the String® System was created in response to a Swedish need for shelving that was affordable, easy to ship and easy to assemble.

The brand had a resurgence in 2004 and, in 2005 a fresh, new product, String® Pocket, was launched.  Since then the brand has gone from strength to strength, with the introduction of Works™ in 2014 and the galvanised, outdoor range in 2018.  In 2019 Museum™ ..by String Furniture was born and 2021 has seen several exciting new additions to String Furniture’s product portfolio.
